What Writing for 30 Days Taught Me

It’s that time.

With gratitude and accomplishment, I have completed my 30day writing challenge goal.

I started the challenge to improve my writing while also building digital leverage online.

My intent was to create pieces of content that deeply reflected me in the universe as a means of building my personal brand.

Inspired by the Ship30 challenge created by Dickie Bush & Nicolas Cole, the focus was on developing a habit of writing every day.

As a result of showing up daily to publish content, I found joy in my writing style, perspective, and ability to build in public.

Takeaways

  • Documenting my journey
    • I took note of every step that worked and did not—reflecting on lessons and struggles as a perspective to remember.
  • Creating a system
    • The process of taking ideas to publish was tricky in the beginning. However, as I progressed, the time it took to publish became quicker because of following a system of actions. From documenting my steps, I was able to replicate the creative process repeatedly in an easier manner. Less thinking more execution.
  • Writing from the heart
    • I found what was on my mind easier to write. Naturally, what you desire to express flows better than predetermined content. My best content felt natural and spontaneous to create the day off.
  • Less is more.
    • The blog posts must be small enough for an easy quick read on social media. Limiting my word count forced me to be more concise with my points.
  • Writing messy.
    • Even with an idea formed, I would unleash my mind to let all ideas out. Bullet points, quotes, and phrases were all dumped out. Once I had all my thoughts and content out first, then I would edit and refine.

Overall, I am grateful for this experience and believe it is an effective way to build your confidence in the digital space. Publishing every day built my confidence to be okay with creating content regardless of the reaction.

Reviewing my library of content, I see the variety of topics that mirrors my mind.

What happens next?

I will most likely continue to write, as I have discovered a new medium to express myself. The goal will be to continue to build digital leverage on topics that are authentic to me and In doing so, connect and build authority over time.

I encourage others to try this challenge, you may discover something about yourself too.

What are you waiting for…
