There is no mute button for the thoughts that run through your mind.
With so much stimulation, it feels like we are at war to keep the level of thoughts relevant.
Confusion, anxiety, or fear are common suspects that infiltrate and live rent free in our minds.
However it doesn’t have to always be.
I believe with practice and honest introspection, the chatter will become quiet.
How this comes to you, however, will be unique to you.
Dan Koe wrote a topic called the mental experience model. The idea is that all our beliefs, perceptions, and limitations are created from our past experiences.
In other words, your life up until that moment has shaped who you are today. Although, in our minds means that we may not have the full picture of our true abilities.
‘We do not know, what we do not know’,
Is a relevant statement because it feeds into our blind spots of how we interact with the world.
If our perceptions are formed from how we interact then we must be hyper aware of how we understand the inputs. Inputs can be anything, text, social media, ads, or a conversation.
What if the way you interpreted the data is wrong?
Firstly you have to be okay with the chatter to fully see it.
Second, adopt a mindset of challenging what you know so that you open up to new breakthroughs.
I recommend practicing a form of meditation.
Note how you feel? When thoughts arise. What sensations arise?
Then ask what experiences have led you to feel this way?
The magical thing is, that the same experience can be repurposed to positively change the chatter for better.
You won’t know until you try.
